Honoring this sacred life

Mountain to Mountain is dedicated to awakening and nourishing an awareness of your sacred relationship with yourself, with others, and with the more-than-human web of life. With deep respect for the cycles of birth, death, and the paradoxes and narrow passages of Being Here, we create containers for contemplative indwelling, remembering, and soul companioning.

The Prayer Tent for the Divine mother

A Sanctuary space for private entry into your self and a place to pray from your own beloved heart

The Prayer Tent is the manifestation of the vision of artist, Denise McMorrow, on behalf of the 13 Sacred Beings who hold space within the Tent. In late 2019, Denise began creating life-size paintings of these Sacred Beings, all faces of the Divine Mother, and recording their messages. To amplify the healing, inspiration and support these Beings offer, they are gathered together in the circular container of the tent to concentrate their Presence, Beauty, and Mystery in a physical, sacred space. The Prayer Tent is a sanctuary space that invites you to rest, pray, and drop down and in to your sacred self as you are.

A container for the sacred Gaze of the divine mother

Within the Prayer Tent, you are invited to experience what it is to be seen and surrounded by the collective gaze of the Divine Mother. The sound healing journey created by Erik Lawrence weaves together music and healing sounds and frequencies with the spoken messages of each of the Sacred Beings. Many visitors have described receiving profound messages from their own hearts in this space.

What People Are Saying about the Prayer Tent

“Being zipped into the Prayer Tent felt like a portal. At times a nest, a womb, a heart, all intimate spaces that felt simultaneously like my own, and yet universal. Not just of myself, but of humankind, Ancestors and Spirit beings past, present, and future. In the mere act of sitting, my presence completed the circle as the wind outside shook the fabric of the paintings, and the Mothers spoke to me, each in turn, making this sacred experience part theater, part meditation, part memory, part future imaginings. I felt beautiful, deeply cared for, and at peace. Blessings Denise and all who entered here for creating this artful expression with which we could all be.”

— Jeffrey D

“Most of my life my prayers have been to a male figure. Though in the past few years I have been broadening that concept of the Source of all things, I still don't have many images of a divine mother figure. Because of this, I wondered what the prayer tent would be like for me, and if I would be able to connect...At times I sat and made prayer bundles, other times I felt tears welling up. When I found myself able to let the tears out over what I have held and what I have let go, I felt surrounded by a circle of nurturing, caring women. It reminded me of being in a room as someone is giving birth, so much of the support is unspoken and felt in the witness and presence of those surrounding the mother. I felt that unspoken support circling around me”

“I felt like a cleansed seashore after a big storm. I felt like a freshly tilled field, ripped open, raw, vulnerable, fresh, waiting for nourishment and seeds so that I may foster growth. [I received the message that] in order to love others I must love myself, all forms and versions, past, present, and future. In order to love myself, I must tap into the Source, into The Divine Mother. Thank you, thank you, thank you, for your powerful medicine.”

— Sara S.

“Since the visit I have been feeling very abundant and like I can offer so much space to others without feeling depleted. Not sure if this belongs to one or all of the mothers’ messages, but I am totally digging it.”

— Braden

“Thank you for providing this space for me, my daughter and niece to be together today to feel the presence of the Divine Mother.  The feeling upon entering the Tent was instant peace and the words I am left with are “open,” “love,” “growth,” “birth,” “doorways,” “portals,” “infinite,” and “death.”   It was a soul nourishing experience, thank you!”

“I am a trans woman. My inner spirit is utterly, completely, and profoundly feminine. Yet I had to live the first 50 years of my life as male. This, as you can well imagine, has caused me profound pain, anguish, and interior turmoil. As I said, this did not vanish the instant I left the tent. But I did experience the following. First, an acknowledgment that my pain is real and no attempt to cover it over with platitudes. Second, a realization that this is part of a feminine awakening we are all experiencing and is clearly evident in our society today - it's what motivated you to put up the tent in the first place - but with birth comes pain. Third, and perhaps most importantly, the knowledge that I am not suffering alone. Not just the divine mother, but plenty of other spirits alongside her, they "get it". In some fashion they understand what it means to have such a core component of one's identity suppressed and hid for so long. But over and above all that, a strong sense of spiritual union and bonding which I know can carry me through anything, because I am not alone - it is no longer "I", but "we". But not in the bad sense of losing one's individuality, but experiencing it even more intensely."

— Vanessa

“Thank you so much for creating this space. Your work is beautiful and moving, and I could tell you had the intention to move others with those pieces. I’m at a point where I’m going through many transformations trying to find my path, and as I was laying there, it became more apparent to relinquish control and let my many Mothers guide me—my aunt, my own mother, my aunt, my grandma, everyone these are all my mothers, and The Divine Mother as well.”

— Alexa

“It’s like coming home. Not so much a place, but a very deep feeling.”

Holding Space for Perinatal Loss

All Rivers return: Honoring Perinatal Loss

Women and families often struggle to navigate emotional, physical, energetic, and spiritual healing after perinatal loss in the absence of established cultural rituals and supports. We offer support to women or couples in the form of focused sessions that integrate art therapy, energetic and sound healing, and honoring of the experience of loss in the form of meaningful ritual.

In addition to the private work of companioning this particular grief, we also offer ongoing weekend healing retreats and communal ceremonies to honor perinatal loss collectively, open to families, couples, and women at any point in their journey.

A collaborative vision

Mountain to Mountain was founded by visionary artist and depth psychologist, Dr. Denise McMorrow, and sound healing practitioner and grammy award-winning musician, Erik Lawrence. Together, Denise and Erik envision Mountain to Mountain as an alchemical container of deep companioning for the Soul’s embodied expression.

The inner work and journey of psychic dismemberments, transitions, and life’s challenges cannot be hurried, fixed nor solved. But, they can be honored as the sacred spiritual passages that they are, and tended by the poetic, imaginal, sonic, and embodied languages proper to the Soul.

The Sacred Feminine principles—of contemplatively moving awareness down and in, of deep listening and holding an ethic of hospitality to all aspects of Self including that which has been put into the shadow, disowned, or unmourned, of rooting into right relationship with our Mother Earth and Her dreaming, of holding the inherent paradoxes of Being Here within the great weave of all of Life, and deep respect for the cycles of birth, expression, and death—all inform the vision for this container to re-member your own awakened sacredness.
